Unit 2 (4th & 5th Grade)

Activity:  Scientific Fair Start off
Skill / Objective: (copy in passport) Choosing a Science Fair Topic

____________________________________________________

Directions:
  1. Click on the link below to begin the Topic Wizard, this program will help you select a science fair topic that is both interesting and appropriate.
  2. You will need to know a few things to get started:  Your science fair project is due in more than a month, and your zip code is 34288.
  3. Answer the questions and choose a science fair project from the list that's provided.  If you already have a science fair project you can use that too, but you need to think about the following FIRST:
    • Is this project too hard or too easy for me?  If it is, you need to find a different topic.
    • Is there a specific question that this project tries to answer using a fair test?  A fair test is an experiment in which only one factor, or variable, is changed.  If you can't do a fair test, you need to find another topic.
    • Does this project involve factors or traits that can be measured with a number?  If not, you need to find another topic.
    4.  Once you've chosen a topic print it out.  Next, take out a Science Fair Proposal Form to fill out and
get it signed by your teacher and a parent.
